This is a 3-hour hybrid course covering Fairbairn’s Endopsychic Structure. This course meets the continuing education (CE) requirements for licensed marital and family therapists (LMFTs), licensed professional counselors (LPCs), and Licensed Behavioral Practitioners (LBPs) as set forth by the Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure (BBHL). After completing this course, you will receive a CE certificate. This course is part of our Clinical Competencies Series. After completing this course, you will be able to (1) Describe an abstract model of the psychic structure; (2) Describe characteristics of the ideal object; (3) Describe characteristics of the central ego; (4) Describe characteristics of the bad object; (5) Describe early defense mechanisms including introjection, repression, and splitting; (6) Describe the process by which the bad object and relating central ego are repressed and then split; (7) Describe characteristics of the internal object relationships. This is an academic-level course that is appropriate for graduate counseling students, candidates for licensure, new career professionals, and seasoned clinicians.
